The history of the seeing-eye dogs goes back to the mid-18th century. Fast forward to the 21st century and seeing-eye horses are apparently becoming more generally accepted.

A recent report by ABC News spotlights legally blind Fort Worth, Texas, resident Tabitha Darling, whose horse Trixie guides her. "She's kinda pretty much my life," Darling, said in the report. "We've been together for about eight years now. She gives me the independence in getting out there."

Darling had previously trained a horse to work with the disabled.
