"Between training horses in the morning and driving horses at night, some days are very long and very taxing. But like most people, the happiness of providing for my family and the smile on my daughter's face makes it all worthwhile."

The latest profiles in the video series Heartbeat Of Ontario Horse Racing feature horseman Anthony MacDonald of Guelph, Ont. and farm manager Jason LaMarche-Hunderup of King Township.

Anthony and Jason are two of the more than 60,000 people involved with horse racing in Ontario, individuals that make up the heartbeat of Ontario's vital and valuable industry. SC encourages the industry to post these videos and share them through email and social media.

Tens of thousands of Ontarians who rely on the horse racing and breeding industry continue to brace for the impact of the Ontario Liberals' plan to ravage the industry through changes to the OLG Slots at Racetrack Program. Not only have Ontarians vocally opposed expanded gaming as proposed, but they overwhelmingly support the current slots-at-racetracks model. Standardbred Canada urges everyone impacted by these cuts to take action by spreading the message of how a strong horse racing industry benefits the province and the country.

As an avid spectator of Standardbred horse racing,it's exciting to watch a race at the Woodbine racetrack or Georgian Downs racetrack. Instead of encouraging more people to gamble at yet another new casino, why not broaden the excitement and respect for people in the horse industry at these already existing tracks by hosting more Winter and Summer Events or Fairs, which in turn will generate more revenue. Isn't this the more healthier way of solving the financial problem than ending up with more addicted gamblers with no future in sight? If the Province need more gamblers, teach them to gamble through the TSX and charge a transaction fee providing a percentage of profits will go back to the local farmers supporting the horse industry.

Anthony MacDonald is a class act and great ambassador of harness racing ! WEG and the Score need to advertise this ad immediately to get the public aware of what so many families have to lose if this cut is to happen.

I think this is a very good video and is great to have on youtube and this website but I think we should be getting it on other medias as well, such as the T.V. Not all people have the internet or go to these sites.

Anthony: You have become the voice of the future of harness racing, I go to the rallies for the future of our great sport. I am so proud of you, you speak for a lot of people in our industry.

This is the type of video that needs to get out to the general public. The message must get out that the people in the horse industry are ordinary people who happen to specialize in horses, that are just trying to make a living, like the rest of the working class people of Ontario.

Very well done and special kudos to you Anthony for your passion for this business. Your efforts do not go un-noticed.
