Amazing Sevens, by Chapter Seven, had a strong freshman campaign back in 2016 at Saratoga Casino Hotel when the Dave Spagnola-trained trotter established a lifetime mark of 1:58.4.
After being an award-nominated two-year-old at ‘the Spa’ in 2016, Amazing Sevens had a slow 2017 season while lightly raced.
Following a lengthy layoff, Amazing Sevens made his seasonal debut last week when he finished sixth.
On Thursday afternoon, the four-year-old high-stepper drew the rail in the co-feature for New York-sired trotters and was faced with a first-over journey against the race’s favourite.
Amazing Sevens overpowered the leader and drew away to prevail in his second start of the season, and did so in a career-best 1:57.4 with Frank Coppola Jr. in the sulky.
The other $8,030 co-feature was won by Angus MacDonald’s Some Royalty (RC Royalty) who moved her win streak to four with a wire-to-wire victory in 1:58 with leading driver Billy Dobson in the sulky.
Live racing at Saratoga will continue on Friday evening at 6:45 p.m.
