Standardbred Canada, an organization that represents horsepeople, breeders and racetracks across the country, fully supports the efforts of the Ontario Horse Racing Industry Association

.

Standardbred Canada is committed to standing up for the 60,000 Ontarians who rely on this vital industry for their livelihoods.

“SC will remain vigilant in ensuring the future of horse racing in the province of Ontario,” said John Gallinger, President and CEO of Standardbred Canada. “Our association and its Board of Directors are 100% behind the efforts of OHRIA as the voice of the Ontario horse racing industry.”

All Standardbred Canada members are being asked to continue to contact their local MPPs, and to do everything they can to raise awareness of the success of the Slots at Racetracks partnership.

“Every person involved in this industry has an important role to play,” said Gallinger. “We applaud the efforts of the many organizations and individuals who are doing excellent work in this regard. We must continue to get the message out through whatever means are available to each of us.”

Its hard to believe that McGuinty doesn't know that Ontario horse racing is the envy of the world.Great breeding program, excellent honest racing. The reason for this is the sound fiscal footing provided by the slots at racetrack arrangement. It would seem there are factors at play that many in the horse industry are unaware of. Firstly if the expanded sports book gaming comes in, then the OLG will need the coperation of both the racetracks and the municpalites therefore the OLG is being friendly to them.Secondly the OLG has promised the government it can give it more money from gaming,so where is this money coming from? the answer is the horse industry, and everyone associated with it.It would seem McGuinty is challanging the other parties to a fight on this issue, however in my opinion he is backing the wrong horse

McGuinty threatens election

TORONTO STAR -- Mar 22.

Accusing the NDP of ignoring the $16 billion deficit and the Progressive Conservatives of fighting to maintain a $345 million annual “subsidy” for horse racing, McGuinty told a major fundraising dinner his rivals must “do their part” to help balance the province’s books.

“I am very confident our budget will do what needs to be done,” he told a crowd of 2,000 at the party’s annual Heritage fundraising dinner dining on Ontario beef tenderloin at up to $1,500 a plate.

“But if the opposition chooses to play politics, if they force an election nobody wants, we will run on our budget,” added McGuinty, the first Ontario premier to lead a minority government in three decades.

“I will ask Ontarians for a majority government so we can get the job done.”

If the Liberals are bound and bent on killing 60,000 jobs (and both McGuinty and Duncan are still singing out of the same prayer book), then it seems we should be encouraging the Conservative and NDP members do vote against this budget.

The Liberals have taken this Province from having a yearly surplus, to a record yearly $16 billion debt.

* The all-day kindergarten program (which could easily be manned by teaching assistants, and save millions), instead will push forward with fully qualified teachers (some earning as much as $100k) babysitting 5 year olds.

* The Ornge Air Ambulance scandal is an unbelievable mess. No oversight, hundreds of millions gone. Funding shot up 20%, while patients transported fell 6%. Company execs lined their pockets, then left. Health Minister should be gone.

* Liberal Green energy policy is a disaster. They have promised $7 billion to Samsung in exchange for 16,000 jobs, and yet can't upload the wind energy onto Ontario's electrical grid.

*The cancellation of the Racetracks in slots program is a sham. Govt claims to be saving $345 million, and yet half of that (the racetrack share) will still be payable because OLG will be forced to enter into new contracts. If the Liberals told the truth, the potential saving from cutting the program would be $170 million (purse share), and of course they are totally ignoring the down side (60,000 jobs, $1.5 billion payroll, $285 million direct taxes).

Seems easy to understand why the province is $16 billion in debt, these guys don't understand basic math.

Time for a change, urge your PC and NDP members to defeat the budget, and lets try and get Ontario back on the right track.

Recent Poll shows that 69% of ontarioans don,t agree with OLGS new plan for gaming. The ship is starting to turn back to shore. Show your support at this rally monday. ONE DAY ONE VOICE LETS GETTER DONE.

I agree 100%.Im a trainer and the people that work for me are going to the rally. We have to show our numbers and let the government and OLG hear our voice.Don't be one of those people that sits on the couch and hopes for the best.Show your support on Monday, and help our industry!!

“Every person involved in this industry has an important role to play,” said Gallinger. “We applaud the efforts of the many organizations and individuals who are doing excellent work in this regard. We must continue to get the message out through whatever means are available to each of us.”

To mean that means EVERYONE should be at the rally . It tells me SC supports everything everyone is doing which includes all groups! ONE VOICE=THE HORSEPEOPLES VOICE!
