Capt Jack Hanover won the feature race of the night at Bally’s Dover on Thursday (March 2).

Capt Jack Hanover left quickly at the start of the race and forced a tuck into the first turn by Ollies Z Tam, who was able to drop into the pocket. Heinikin Bythebay left from post seven, settled, then rushed to the top, passing the quarter in :27. Heinikin Bythebay continued on the lead to the half in :54.2.

Atlas Hanover made a first-over bid from sixth but that rally stalled as did a three-wide brush by All Hands On Deck down the backstretch. Heinikin Bythebay continued on the lead and reached the three-quarters in 1:22.2.

At the top of the stretch, Capt Jack Hanover and driver Tony Morgan confidently pulled the pocket and won convincingly by four lengths. The time of the race was 1:49.4, a lifetime best. Ollies Z Tam finished second and Heinikin Bythebay was third.

Capt Jack Hanover is owned by Ronald Davis of Selbyville, Del. Brooks Gray trains the $6.80 winner. Tony Morgan sat in the sulky.

There are three exotic carryover wagers to Monday’s racing card at Bally’s Dover. The Pick 4 is worth $2,718 and the wager starts on the ninth race.
