Taylor Spitzig celebrated her first training win on Tuesday night as her own pacer Winwood Nick wired the fourth race field at Western Fair Raceway
Driven by Lorne House, 11-1 longshot Winwood Nick ($24) established the lead early in the $5,000 claiming event and held off second choice Royal Sir for the half-length victory in a two minute mile. Favourite My Perfect Heart finished three and a half lengths behind in third.
The 23-year-old resident of Courtright, Ont. took over the training duties of Winwood Nick from her father Rusty late last year. The win was Spitzig's first in 11 starts.
