The first leg of the Wilson’s Tack Claiming Series went postward Monday at The Raceway at Western Fair District, and the five divisions featured a little bit of everything.

Two favourites triumphed along with a couple of upset winners in the $7,000 events for filly and mare pacers.

Taydertotzz went down the road in the first division for driver Travis Henry and trainer Victor Puddy.

The six-year-old daughter of Betterthancheddar-HNT Angel whacked out splits of :28.3, 1:00.2 and 1:30.1 before using a :30.2 final frame to win by three-quarters of a length over Godiva Mackiavelyc in 2:00.3. Third prize went to Lilys Penelope.

Sent off as the 2-5 choice, the distaffer notched the win for Limco Inc of Chateauguay, QC. She was then claimed from the winning effort. The win was her first of the season and the 15th of her career.

Siboney was treated to a pocket trip in the second split, and she didn’t let the golden opportunity go to waste.

Scott Coulter dropped her into the pocket and together they chased Bye Bye Daddy through fractions of :29, :59 and 1:29.4 before finding clearance and stepping home in :31 to win by 1-1/4 lengths over longshot Moramappo in 2:01. Bye Bye Daddy was third.

Sent off as the 5-2 second choice in the wagering, the six-year-old daughter of Windfall Blue Chip-Lizo Maggs celebrated the win for trainer David O’Brien who shares ownership with Linda Clark of Charlottetown, PE. The mare was then claimed from the winning effort. It was her first win of 2022 and the 14th victory of her career.

Ma Rebelle went to the front and didn’t look back en route to an easy triumph in the third division.

The six-year-old daughter of Ameripan Gigolo-Briannas Attitude sliced out splits of :28.1, 1:00 and 1:30.2 before using a :30.2 closing quarter to win by a pair of lengths over True Horizon in 2:00.4. Northern Belle completed the Trifecta ticket.

Paul MacKenzie mapped out the winning trip for the 3-2 favourite, who potted the win for trainer Terry Gallant and owner Calvin Kuepfer of Millbank, ON. The mare was claimed from the winning effort. The 16-time winner is now 3-for-10 this year.

Rosella pulled off the 10-1 surprise in the fourth division for the tandem of driver Brett MacDonald and trainer Darryl Laver.

The six-year-old daughter of Sportswriter-Future Fire N got away fifth before latching on to cover on the way to the half. She continued to advance on the rim in the final half of the contest, and her :29.2 closing quarter was enough to earn her the one-length triumph over heavily-favoured Keep Watching in 2:00.2. Rounding out the top three finishers was Miss Brandi K.

Leanne Davidson and Brooke Kupec share ownership on the mare who is 2-for-11 this season and 11-for-104 to date.

Eataams Ellie posted the biggest upset of the series when she lit up the toteboard to the tune of 15-1 as a result of her come-from-behind tally in the final division.

Paul MacKenzie followed cover on the way to the half with the Terry Gallant trainee, who then made a three-wide move going to the three-quarter pole before using a closing panel of :31 to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Show Me Some Magic in 2:02. Dex The Land was third.

Allan Kuepfer of Newton, ON owns the six-year-old daughter of Sportswriter-TJs Ellie who scooped up her first win of the season and the 10th victory of her career.
