Wallace To Guelph Hall Of Fame

Five inductees will join the Guelph Sports Hall of Fame on May 20, 2020, and included on the list is Standardbred trainer Ben Wallace.

Wallace is approaching 50 years as an accomplished Standardbred horse trainer in Ontario. From 1996 through 2013, he recorded a remarkable string of 18 consecutive $1 million plus purse earnings per season. In 1996, Wallace was honoured as the Ontario Jockey Club Trainer of the Year and he captured the O'Brien Award as Canada's Trainer of the Year in 1999.

In 2002 he won $4.5 million in purse money, and to date he’s sent out nearly 2,000 winners. Some of the greatest performers he’s been privileged to work with are Camotion (1:48.3 - $1,912,122), Hall of Famer Blissfull Hall (1:49.2 - $1,468,646), Easy Lover Hanover (1:48.1 - $1,094,823) and Apprentice Hanover (1:49.2 - $1,022,114).

Other inductees include hockey players Paul Brydges and Brad Pirie, sports reporter Rob Massey and the 2014 national Guelph ringette champion Guelph Sodrox Predators.

Tickets are now on sale for the Kiwanis Sports Celebrity Dinner on May 20, 2020. Tickets cost $100 per adult, $70 for past inductees, and $35 for students 17 years of age and younger.
