Young horseman Alex Hawes had a day to remember as he drove his first career winner in the eighth race at Dover Downs on Sunday afternoon

Hawes and $300,000-plus career earner Daylon Beware pulled off a 35-1 upset in the $15,000 male claiming allowance pace when they turned back a first over challenge from Jovial Jester N (Sean Bier) and held off the second over Shark Mcgwire (Anthony Morgan) by a nose in 1:54.1.
The 22-year-old from Bridgeville, Delaware also trains and co-owns the seven-year-old Astreos gelding with Crissman Inc. The win was Hawes' first from eight driving assignments.
