Racine Bell, a winning machine over the course of her young career, lived up to even money favouritism in Wednesday's (March 10) $10,000 distaff pacing feature at Saratoga Casino Hotel with a 1:54 score.
The four-year-old daughter of So Surreal, who amassed over $285,000 at two and three while competing primarily on the New York Sire Stakes circuit, was sent immediately to the lead by Brian Cross and clicked off a :57.2 first half. She then powered away from her rivals through a :27.4 third quarter and opened up an insurmountable lead over runner-up Pammy Jo (Shawn Gray) and third-place finisher Bontz N (Billy Dobson).
Racine Bell accounted for one of two wins on the card for her owners, Chris and Dale Lawton, and trainer Dave Dewhurst. Those connections also teamed up to win with young trotter Me Three, who broke her maiden with Jimmy Devaux in the sulky.
Live racing at Saratoga resumes next Monday (March 15) with two growing jackpot carryovers: $2,569 in the Pick-6 and $3,068 in the Super High 5.
