Last week around this time Trottin Troy was in the outhouse, but on Monday he graduated to the penthouse
thanks to a winning effort in Western Fair Raceway’s $18,400 Preferred Trot.
The five-year-old son of Chip Chip Hooray, who was a disappointing sixth in last week’s Preferred affair, bounced back with a sharp, gate-to-wire score in today’s eight-horse affair.
In rein to Dave Wall, Trottin Troy parked just past the quarter pole in :28.3 before landing on the lead, and once he cleared it was game over. The Steve Bossence trainee whacked out remaining splits of :58.4 and 1:28.4 en route to the 2:00 decision. Brawn Seelster was second and Suzys Solitaire was third.
Parent Racing Stable LLC and Crystal Ball Stables share ownership on the gelding, who won for the fourth time this season in seven tries. He has banked in excess of $223,000 to date.
Later on the card it was a similar situation for A Fiesty Affair, who rallied to a 1:58.3 victory in the $15,200 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace. One week earlier in the same class she made a break getting away from the starting gate and finished a badly beaten sixth.
Trainer Casie Coleman and driver Mike Langdon joined forces to right the ship with the four-year-old Camluck miss, who bumped her lifetime earnings to $277,342 with the win. St Lads Seraph, who was sent off as the favourite, finished second while Random Dreamer rounded out the top three.
Bred and owned by Bob Hamather of Exeter, ON, A Fiesty Affair won for the 14th time in her career.
