OLG Pitches Casino To Waterloo Region

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. President Rod Phillips, whose organization oversees the casinos in Windsor and Niagara Falls, has gone on the record as saying, “Some casinos in the past were designed to literally suck the life out of the communities around them. But that’s not the kind of casinos that we have operating around the province.”

Phillips’ comments came Thursday, February 8 in Waterloo while he was in town on behalf of the OLG, pitching the idea of a casino complex to the region.

According to a report by therecord.com, which also quoted Phillips on the casino-life-sucking comment, the OLG is hoping to get expressions of interest from municipalities in regard to whether they are interested in being a host municipality for a casino or not by this April.

One reason the SAR casinos are not "casino-life-sucking" in their present locations is because the present programs returns a lot of money to the hosting municipalities and THE HORSEMAN (who's "trickle down" spending in the horse business returns a lot of money to the economy especially the agricultural economy).
Old ladies losing their life savings at bingo/slot parlors will be "life sucking".
