If Only Id Known circled a field of a half dozen distaffers in the stretch to take the $14,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Handicap Pace featured on Friday evening (Feb. 2) at Century Mile.
Dave Kelly worked out the winning trip aboard If Only Id Known, sending the John Chappell trainee widest of all from the back coming out of the final turn and downing popular pacesetter Outlaw Allie Oops with a :27 final frame for the 1-1/2-length victory in 1:53.3.
Outlaw Allie Oops settled for second after retaking the lead through a :28.1 opening quarter and setting middle splits of :56.2 and 1:25.1 in rein to Nathan Sobey. Jakara and Kelly Hoerdt closed inside from the back to nab third prize.
Sent postward at odds of 5-2, If Only Id Known paid $7.50 to win.
The six-year-old Shadow Play-Michelles Fury mare, who earned her first victory of the season after picking up cheques in a pair of January outings, is owned by Chris Lancaster and Velda Olding. A career winner of 17 races lifetime, she now has $186,333 in purse earnings.
