Richard Moreau trainee Camara Moment asserted his dominance over his peers to score a repeat victory in the Snowshoe Pacing Series on Friday night (Feb. 3) at Woodbine Mohawk Park as part of a training hat trick for Moreau.
Driver Doug McNair motored Camara Moment to the lead through a :28.1 first quarter before yielding the lead to 4-5 favourite Emmetts Buddy. Camara Moment promptly pulled pocket up the backside and circled back to the lead before a :56.3 half and scooted to a three-length lead around the final turn. Past three-quarters in 1:25.2, Camara Moment spun for home under minimal threat and coasted to the finish 2-3/4 lengths better than Ontop Rainman, who closed from second over to take second in the 1:53 mile. Emmetts Buddy settled for third and Palladium Hanover finished fourth.
Camara Moment competes for owners Mickey Sudar, Brenton Harris and James Borke. He won his eighth race from 18 starts, has now banked $99,960 and paid $5.40 to win.
Moreau scored two other wins for a training triple on Friday night. He sent Lock Bridge (1:54.4 winning mile, $5.10 to win) in the second half of the early double and won the race after the Snowshoe preliminary with Tuf Cooper (1:55.4, $3.40). The nine-time O'Brien Award winner will aim for an unprecedented 10th straight title as Canada's Trainer of the Year as Standardbred Canada hosts the 2022 O'Brien Awards on Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Hilton Meadowvale / Mississauga.
