Dontgetinskyway Scores First Buffalo Win

Dontgetinskyway earned his first Buffalo Raceway victory with a 1:57 effort in the $11,000 Open Pace on Saturday night (February 2).

The win was the first this year for the seven-year-old gelding out of Dontgetinmyway, who now has 14 lifetime wins in 145 attempts.

Dontgetinskyway ($4.80), the favourite in the race, settled in fourth with reinsman Dave McNeight III in the sulky while Dont Fool With Me (Mark Beckwith) cut all the fractions in the race (:29.4, :59.2 and 1:29.4). McNeight swung Dontgetinskyway to the outside, just before the half, and the gutsy gelding ground out a tough first over trip, which saw him in the lead at the top of the stretch. A :28.3 last quarter-mile put the winner one and a half lengths ahead of second-place finisher Card Dealer (Billy Dobson) at the wire. Wisers Deluxe (Shawn Gray) came in third.

Trained and owned by David P. McNeight, the $5,500 share of the winning purse put Dontgetinskyway’s lifetime earnings at $190,057.

Shawn Gray and Billy Dobson led all drivers with three wins apiece.
