The margin of victory for pacing gelding L Weather B wasn’t a big one on Thursday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park, but it was enough for Shawn Steacy to celebrate his first lifetime training victory.
Steacy, the son of well-known conditioner Mark Steacy, watched L Weather B turned a covered up trip into a head decision over J J Powerball in the $17,000 conditioned affair. The time for the mile was 1:55.2.
It was the 25th kick at the can for Steacy, who now owns a 1-3-4 record with purse earnings just shy of $32,000. He’s got some work to do to catch up to his father, who boasts 1,671 victories good for purse earnings in excess of $24 million. One thing he clearly has going for him is a solid racing pedigree.

Kudos Shawn!
I had the pleasure of watching you drive to your first winner at RCR and now this! You've got all the talent in the world and a super great team behind you. I'm thinking your father won't mind dropping his Mentor" rate when it comes to training. We wish you all the best.
