The margin of victory was a narrow one, but it won’t say that on the cheque for Chinnys Wings who eked out a nose decision in Tuesday’s $15,500 Preferred Trot at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.

Under orders from trainer/driver Doug Bowins, Chinnys Wings shot to immediate command from his Post 3 perch on the starting gate and led the field through intervals of :30, 1:00 and 1:30 before using a :29.4 closing panel to secure the 32nd victory of his career. A late charge by runner-up Lexis D J fell just short, and third-place finisher Dashing Earl was a lapped-on third.

The 1:59.4 score gave the seven-year-old son of Armbro Ricochet-I Quiver Not his first trip to the winner’s circle this season from seven opportunities. Bowins shares ownership on the career winner of $269,772 with Donald Brinkman of East Coulee, AB.
