Steadily building in speed and strength in his four-year-old campaign, Windsun Twister seems poised to unleash his best effort in this Monday’s $55,400 final of the Ontario Boys Pacing Series at Woodbine Racetrack
.
The gelded son of Camotion has racked up two wins, two seconds, and a third in six starts in 2009 for trainer Al Hamilton, who co-owns with David McNabb and the Black Walnut Stables of Brantford, Ontario. In the series opener on February 16, he was second to Chad Schmiedge entry, Dinner Guest, then followed that up last week with a victory over the well-regarded Winter Blues and Warp Speed, in a new lifetime best clocking of 1:53.4.
Can he take his rivals by storm in the final? He’ll have to get past Ben Wallace trainee, Warp Speed, to do so, and the Mach Three gelding with the fleet turn of foot will no doubt be determined to regain the winner’s circle, after an unfortunate second-tier post draw in last week’s Ontario Boys sequel saddled him with traffic problems he couldn’t overcome. Warp Speed was a winner in the Ontario Boys first leg and has scored two seconds and a third as well, in five starts so far this season, making him the 5-2 morning line favourite to Windsun Twister’s 3-1.
He’ll have no post position excuses this time around, having drawn Post #2 with regular pilot Mario Baillargeon to guide him.
Catch the exciting conclusion to the Ontario Boys series for four-year-old Ontario-bred pacers Monday night at Woodbine – it’s race #5, post time 8:46 p.m.
