After a nearly two month absence from the winner’s circle, Anders Bluestone returned in full force to win the $23,000 feature trot at Dover Downs on Wednesday, Feb. 27. The win elevated Anders Bluestone into the $1 million earnings club.

The seven-year-old son of Yankee Glide-Annette Hanover went right to the front and driver Ross Wolfenden never looked back en route to a 1:54 victory. Allmar Surprise finished second for driver Vic Kirby. Track older trot record holder Hes Spooky and Eric Carlson, the race favourites, spent the entire mile racing on the outside and still finished third. Mandabra, driven by Corey Callahan, broke stride heading to the first turn yet recovered to finish fourth.

Anders Bluestone won the first Open Trot of the New Year on Jan. 2, and then was sidelined for the next three weeks with a foot ailment and due to poor training conditions before getting back to the track. After a pair of lackluster performances, the trotter began to look like his old self last week finishing third.

Eric Ell trains Anders Bluestone for Ken Wood and Bill Dittmar. The trotter has now won $25,760 in purses this year and $1,000,285 lifetime.

On Thursday, Delaware champion Powerful Mist returns in the $35,000 Preferred to take on a Versado-led field while Rustys All In is the one to beat in the $30,000 Delaware Special.
