Jerry Nock enjoyed a big night at Rosecroft Raceway on Wednesday, Feb. 25 as four horses he owns and trains visited the winner's circle during the 13-race card.
Nock teamed up with driver Lucas Myers, who led all drivers with a hat trick, with Cash Bet Hanover (1:55.3 mile time, $8.80 win dividend), Shakas Pride (1:53.2, $9) and Luckatthebeach (1:52.4, $18.20). Justin Vincent steered Nock's other winner, Everything B Cool (1:53.4, $16.20).
Nock also had a pair of third-place finishers from his six starters on Wednesday.
For his career, the 81-year-old resident of Willards, Maryland, has harnessed the winners of 496 races since the United States Trotting Association began keeping detailed training statistics in 1991.
Lous Starr completed an early give-and-go to seat even-money favourite Spring Blake in the pocket before keeping that rival a half length at bay for a seasonal-best 1:51.4 score in the featured $16,438 Open Handicap Pace. Corey Braden drove the four-year-old son of Sweet Lou-Amantha Starr to his second victory in three starts this year for trainer Scott Warnick and owner Daniel Chansky of Powhatan, Virginia.
Multiple players in the Jackpot Hi-5 had winning tickets with the 4-7-9-2-5 combination, good for a $301.05 dividend on a 50-cent ticket and increasing the carryover to Thursday's final race to $21,958.71. Thursday's 12-race card is led by a pair of third-level conditioned events, one each for distaff pacers (race 10) and trotters (race 11), and supported by a trio of Mid-Atlantic Drivers Club races. First post is 7:15 p.m.
