It has been reported that Woodbine Racetrack-based jockey Simon Husbands has filed suit against the Ontario Racing Commission and three of its stewards to the tune
of $3 million.
An article by The Toronto Star states that Husbands filed the claim this past December, and that he is seeking $2 million for malicious prosecution and wrongful actions, and $1 million in punitive, exemplary and aggravated damages.
Husbands had been suspended one year based on charges that he deliberately held back a horse he was aboard during a race. Husbands was subsequently cleared of the charges.
Husbands is claiming the ruling has destroyed his career.
