This week's Rewind is the monthly feature Picture Parade, a collection of older photographs for your viewing pleasure. As we close out February, often known for being a month dedicated to and all about love, Robert Smith presents a number of pictures of well known couples associated with harness racing. If you so choose you can send in your best guesses as to who they are. Hope you enjoy seeing them.
While perusing the list don't be afraid to hum or sing a verse or two of "Let Me Call You Sweetheart." Valentine's day was officially 11 days ago, but let's just make this Valentine's Month and extend the theme of love and thoughtfulness. I believe there is a fairly recently coined word that has crept into existence and it is "Loveuary", a combination of the words Love and February.
#1 - Let's start with an easy one. Who do we have here, centre and right? The fellow on the left is Doug Elliot, former OJC official making a presentation.
#2 - This couple is no longer with us but are certainly well remembered. Who are they?
#3 - The date says 1973 but maybe someone made a mistake because that was 50 years ago! Can you identify these two young people?
#4 - Who are these two good lookers? Let us know.
#5 - The couple on the right are the ones you need to identify. Who are they?
#6 - I am not supposed to have a favourite but when it becomes legal to do so this one will be mine. Who are they?
#7 - Let's see who do we have here? Happy to have this one in today's collection.
#8 - Who are the two folks in this older photo? Name them if you can. It looks like somebody is packing for a little trip.
#9 - This one goes back a ways but I'll bet many will know and remember them. Who do you think it is?
#10 - This couple is associated with two very famous racing families from the U.S. You can probably tell this photo was taken quite a few years ago as the gent pictured here is turning 80 this year. The fellow in the centre is not part of the quiz. Who are they?
Bonus Photo
Can you identify the couple in this great old photo? The lady was the owner and her husband the trainer and driver of this well known horse that starred at the two big Montreal tracks for a number of years. How many of the trio can you name?

Couples picture parade
Number 8. Aline White, Roger's wife, reminded me just how beautiful she really is. We were stabled beside Roger White at Richelieu Park in 1958 and 1959. Roger and Aline had just got married and bought a house trailer. I am guessing that picture of Roger holding up his uniform was taken in that house trailer. What a class act they were.
Number 9 is Sadie and Bill Habkirk. When I won my first race June 27th 1961 Sadie came into the winner’s circle to congratulate me.
Bonus photo is Russ Caldwell with his wife Jean another beautiful looking lady and I think she still is living in Ottawa.
Update
After posting this week's Rewind I found out a rather interesting fact about one of the people who is in the "Picture Parade " . In the "Bonus Photo ", the lady pictured is still very much with us and reportedly a resident in an Ottawa area seniors home . She is a mere 105 years young !
I read recently that the world's two oldest living people (both females) are 115 years old . One in Spain ,the other in Japan . Until recently a French Canadian nun was the oldest but passed at 118 .
