Mark Etsell pupil Busy Making Moni went a simple lap around the Woodbine Mohawk Park track on Thursday night (Feb. 23) in a 1:57.3 jogburger to bag the fastest of three $18,000 divisions of the featured class.
The three-year-old International Moni gelding raced last of the six through the first fractions of :29.1 and :58.3 before Mark Etsell pulled the right line and got his charge moving. Downstairs Party overtook the lead to the final turn and Angel Of My Dreams pulled pocket, giving cover to Busy Making Moni as they rolled to three-quarters in 1:28.2. Busy Making Moni promptly abandoned that cover off the corner and lifted clear of his competition to cross the beam on the bit and in hand by 5-1/4 lengths. Talismano took second from Toscano Girl and Belvedere Bronx.
Busy Making Moni competes for owner Mark Etsell. The gelding won his second race from four starts, has now banked $19,540 and paid $3.60 to win.
