The Jim Marino stable was a force to be reckoned with on Friday night (February 21) at Fraser Downs with winners in half of the evening's dozen races and driver Brandon Campbell played a strong supporting role.
A rarity for a driver to win five or more races on a single card is becoming the norm at Fraser Downs for Campbell, who escorted a quartet of Marino's stars to the winner's circle including Hotpieceoface ($22.40), Tiempo Hanover ($4.90), Crystal Dragon ($7.10) and I Ama Rocket ($4.70). Campbell also picked up a victory with his own trainee Exceptional ($4.10) to complete his five-win night and tie Kelly Hoerdt atop the local leaderboard (43-43), far ahead of the competition.
Marino's other winners included Ucia Hanover ($6) with Tony Kerwood aboard and Scardy Cat ($66), who was driven by John Abbott and upset her favoured stablemate Sell A Bit N with Kerwood between the wheels.
