A multiple-horse accident in Flamboro Downs' final race on Wednesday afternoon sent two drivers to hospital
.
Mr Consistency split horses moving up into fourth place as the field approached the three-quarters mark when his legs were taken out from under him and he fell to the ground unseating his driver Travis Henry. Interference was caused to Ringlabell to his inside, which also sent driver Mike Dowling flying from his sulky. Trailing Tide Master collided with Mr Consistency and also fell unseating driver Tony Kerwood. Navarro Seelster, with Justin Turcotte in the bike, and the Gerry Belanger-driven Tax Riteoff were also affected by the incident.
Trot Insider has received confirmation from family that Henry was not seriously injured. Early reports indicate that Dowling suffered a knee injury and was taken to Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington. Kerwood was taken to St. Joseph's hospital in Hamilton and is being transferred to Hamilton General's trauma unit with injuries to his neck and upper body.
According to trainer Jason McGinnis, his pacer Ringlabell suffered scrapes from the incident, but is otherwise okay. Cory Fuller has also confirmed that his trainee Tide Master escaped serious injuries.
Trot Insider will continue to provide updates on the condition of the drivers and horses involved when further details are made available.
