It has been reported that Empire Resorts, operator of Monticello Raceway, has proposed an expansion plan which would see the erection of three hotels and a water park at the track, all to the tune of $400 million.

An article by the Times Herald-Record states that besides the hotel aspect of the proposal, the first phase would see an the existing racino upgraded; the buffet and food court relocated; the existing bar transformed into a sports bar; the addition of a 'high tech' simulcast area; a 900-car closed parking garage, and 25,000-square foot multipurpose room.

The report goes on to say that Senator John Bonacic, who chairs the Senate's Racing and Wagering committee, says it is "too early to tell" whether the company's financing proposals will succeed.
