Last week, it was Austin Siegelman who put on a driving clinic at Monticello Raceway. This week, it's Mike Merton.

On Wednesday (Feb. 20), Merton dominated the snowy afternoon and drove seven winners on the 12-race card at the Catskill oval.

He started off hot, taking the first race with Mamie Marc in wire-to-wire fashion for trainer Patti Harmon in 2:00.4. In the third, he scored with Permanent Joy ($3.80) in a seven-length romp in 1:59. Drive Em Cowboy accounted for his third win of the day in 1:56.3.

Merton then went on to sweep races seven through 10. Hi Ho Steverino ($3.40) won race seven in 1:57. Zach Lee won the eighth in 1:56.1, giving trainer Andrew Adamczyk a training triple for the afternoon. Patronne Seelster ($9.70), a five-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight, took race nine, and rounding out the afternoon in race 10 was Jim Doherty Jr. trainee Caviar Court, who scored in 2:03.2.
