Manchester Hanover didn’t make it the races as a rookie, but he’s a high-priced pacer that could make plenty of noise as a sophomore
for trainer Casie Coleman.
The multiple O’Brien Award-winning conditioner has been busy preparing the strapping son of Western Ideal-Mary Mattgalane for his pari-mutuel debut, and by the look of his efforts in the morning at Mohawk Racetrack he’s ready to rock and roll.
Manchester Hanover, who was purchased for $120,000 from the 2009 Lexington Select Yearling Sale by Coleman and partner Tom Hill, won his initial qualifier on February 10 in 1:59 before romping to a 1:57 triumph in his follow-up assignment one week later.
"I think he's a very nice colt and he's staked to everything,” said Coleman when asked about the well-bred youngster. “He needed throat surgery and was gelded as a two-year-old, he just wasn't ready as a two-year-old and we had to do what was right – some surgeries and give him the time off.”
The pacer is a sibling to such speedsters as Lady Mattgalane (1:51 – $389,613), My Time Hanover (1:51.3 - $236,457), Marymatt Hanover (1:49.2 - $224,672) and this year’s Exit 16W Series champion, Meirs Hanover (1:50.3 - $185,939).
