After having been absent from the charter’s eye since the TVG Mares Pace in late November, Shartin N, the accomplished aged distaffer, surfaced on Wednesday morning (Feb. 19) during a five-race qualifying session at Dover Downs.
The seven-year-old daughter of Tintin In America competed in the last of the morning’s races and lined up in Post 6 for driver Tim Tetrick and fellow co-owners Richard Poillucci and Joann Looney King.
The Jim King Jr. trainee started from the outside starting spot and settled into third as Highalator cut the fractions in :28.2, :55.3 and 1:23.2. Tetrick tipped Shartin N from third as the leaders rounded into the stretch. The duo raced three-wide in the stretch and got up to notch a well-measured, handy win in 1:51.3.
King has stated that the plan is to see Shartin N qualify again next week.

Shartin N, who has been the most dominant Standardbred since she stepped foot on North American soil, has compiled a record of 41-7-0 from 56 starts and has banked $2,223,464 since her arrival. She debuted in North America in January of 2018 and holds the world record (1:46.4) as the fastest female Standardbred in the history of the sport (a replay of the historic mile appears below).
