"For too long harness racing was simply about racing. This time round we have looked at our sport as an entertainment product," senior Queensland

pacing official David Fowler has been quoted as saying.

Fowler's comments are from an article today on goldcoast.com.au. His statements are in reference to the revamped approach to the Inter Dominion series, which will take place from March 14-28 at the Gold Coast Parklands, Queensland in Australia. For a long while the event had been considered an event for the older demographics. That is something organizers are looking to change.

"We had to sex things up and with that we are hoping to achieve massive crowds, especially with the Gold Coast's record of attracting fans to events such as Indy," said Fowler.

The series, across three Saturday nights at Parklands, has been promoted with a sassy, sexy image, which Fowler said fitted perfectly with the Gold Coast. "We set out to make this year's Inter Dominion a mini-Melbourne Cup -- one of the leading social and sporting entertainment events on the Gold Coast," said Fowler.
