Drivers for the 2011 Ontario Regional Driving Championship, scheduled for Friday, March 11 at Western Fair Raceway, have now been confirmed

.

The participating drivers are:

The top two drivers from the eight-race competition will join Atlantic Regional reps Ken Arsenault and Gilles Barrieau and advance to the 2011 National Driving Championship scheduled for Saturday, May 7 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at Charlottetown Driving Park.

Several drivers declined invitations to take part, including Randy Waples, Canada’s Driver of the Year for 2010, and Mark MacDonald; both had conflicts with some of the dates for the National Driving Championship and some of the legs of the World Driving Championship. Paul MacKenzie and Sylvain Filion also declined invites.

Drivers must commit to being available for the World Driving Championship dates, and National Driving Championship dates in order to take part in a Regional Driving Championship.

The winner of the NDC will represent Canada in harness racing's 2011 World Driving Championship, hosted by the United States from July 31 to August 5.

I hope Scott wins so he can come to PEI. But i will be glad if any of the other drivers come to they r great. yes paul mackenzie is a great driver (from the island i must say.
Good luck to everyone.

No matter who wins out of this group, Ontario will be well represented. It's a shame Paul MacKenzie wasn't able to participate, I believe he is possibly the most under rated driver in Ontario. His driving abilities exceed his accomplishments, and he has accomplished a lot in harness racing.
