Trainer Gerard Demers teamed up with driver Austin Sorrie for three winners at Flamboro Downs on Sunday, Feb. 15 and moved into the lead in the track’s conditioners’ standings.

St Lads Beat It ($7.70) gave Demers a convincing first win of the evening as the nine-year-old son of Mach Three-Warrawee Cammy bottomed out the fourth-race field in a 3-3/4-length victory in 1:57. The win was the first of the season in six starts for the gelding, who is owned by Francois Morin of Beauceville, Que.

Wry produced a gutsy effort in the next race to land a 22-1 upset for Demers and owner Yannick Marquis of Mascouche, Que. The gelding moved first-up in front of the stands, caught cover from five-eighths to three-quarters, and forged on to prevail by a length in 1:54.3. The six-year-old son of Artspeak-Hobe Sound scored his second straight win and has tallied twice in six attempts in 2026. He returned $47.70 to win.

Demers completed his triple in the eighth race as Kingston Panic ($11.60) won his first start for the trainer and owner Jean Laroche of Saint-Agapit, Que. The six-year-old Sportswriter-R We There Yet gelding blasted away from post seven and went gate-to-wire for a one-length victory in 1:56. Shipping in from Miami Valley Raceway in Ohio, Kingston Panic improved to one-for-two on the season.

Demers is on top of the Flamboro leaderboard with 10 wins this year, two more than Francis Guillemette, Courtney Bishop, Ron MacDonald and Jodie Cullen, who are tied for second. He is 27-for-113 overall in 2026 and is seeking his third campaign with more than $1 million in earnings.
