Siegelman Is Money At Monticello, Again

He may not be Bill Murray, and today may not be Groundhog Day, but 24 hours after having won five of the ten races at Monticello Raceway, young Austin Siegelman probably had a strong case of déjà vu at the ‘Mighty M.’

Siegelman duplicated the multiple-win feat on Thursday (Feb. 14), as he again won five of the ten races that went postward at Monticello.

Siegelman won the second race of the afternoon with Reflexionofroyalty from the rail in 2:00.1 and returned a $8.50 win pari-mutuel. Histoire Eternelle (PP4) gave Siegelman his second win of the day, as he tallied a wire-to-wire effort in 1:57.

Siegelman came right back in the following contest (Race 5) to score with Victory Singer (1:59.4 - $2.60). Siegelman tasted victory once again in Race 7, as he led Sky Guy to a three-length win after having cut the mile from Post 8.

Siegelman’s final victory of the afternoon came with Celtic Art, a son of Artiscape that won in 1:59 and paid $10.40.

The top four drivers at the track are in a bottleneck for leading dash winner. Three drivers – Bruce Aldrich Jr. Michael Merton, and James Devaux – are all tied with 34 wins. Siegelman is in close pursuit with 33 wins.

Over $780,000 was wagered on Monticello’s 10-race Thursday card.

Live racing at Monticello will return on Monday at 12:25 p.m.
