The combination of driver Jim Devaux and trainer Dolores Basilone has been clicking frequently as of late, and Tuesday, February 14 at Monticello Raceway was no exception.
DeVaux drove five winners during the card, while Basilone sent out the winners of four races.
DeVaux capped off both ends of the early double. After having started from the rail, Sweet Kix proved to be DeVeax’s first trip to the winner’s circle, followed by Muscle Beachboy (trained by Basilone) in the second half of the early double. In Race 3, it was Nancys Skyscape that gave Devaux the early hat trick.
After a short hiatus, Devaux’s next winning drive came in Race 7, as Powder Keg, who started from the rail for Basilone, scored in 1:57, which was the fastest mile of the afternoon. DeVaux came right back in the following race and hit the wire first with Hoboken Hanover, who is also trained by Basilone.
Devaux is now atop Monticello’s dash-winning driver race with 57 wins (Bruce Aldrich is second with 49 wins).
With the sun shining and the track dry, it marked the return of all-time Monticello Raceway leading dash winner Billy ‘Zeke’ Parker, who finished the day with a second and a third-place finish from his two starts.
