It has been reported that Nova Scotia Agriculture Minister Keith Colwell will be replacing the Board of the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition Commission with a three-member interim Board.
The news comes courtesy of a report by the Truro Daily News, which states that the move will render the current Board relatively powerless and defunct.
The article has quoted Minister Colwell as saying that since the Nova Scotia Farm Loan Board called its loan to the NSPE, the Province now technically owns the exhibition’s property and buildings, therefore the current 12-member NSPE Board does not have any facility to manage any more.
In talking about the incoming interim Board, Minister Colwell said that "It won't be as big as the last board, I can tell you that for sure, and it will be a whole new mandate that they have.”
Another article by the Truro Daily News has quoted Colchester County Mayor Bob Taylor as saying, “The way this was handled, I was certainly disappointed.”
