It has been reported that the Province of British Columbia has ordered a review to investigate a potential conflict of interest scenario regarding Michael Graydon, its former lottery commission chairman.
As an article by The Globe and Mail explains, Finance Minister Michael de Jong informed B.C. Lottery Commission Chair Bud Smith of the probe via a letter dated February 7.
De Jong wrote, “The review will focus on any potential conflicts of interest or breaches of confidentiality that may have occurred prior to, or subsequent to, Mr. Graydon’s acceptance of an employment position with [PV Hospitality].”
On January 31, the BCLC announced that Graydon, its president and CEO, was leaving the organization for a position in the private sector.
As The Globe and Mail article explains, the private sector company that Graydon left for is PV Hospitality, described as a newly-formed partnership between Paragon Gaming and 360 Vox Corp. The former is a Las Vegas-based company with an aspiration to erect a multi-million-dollar resort next to B.C. Place, while the latter is a publicly-traded company that has teamed up with Paragon on the project.
