Harness Racing B.C. announced today that Fraser Downs will host its first community business-sponsored race on Sunday, February 22.
Sponsored by Capo Construction, the seventh race on the card will be an added distance event contested at 1-5/8 miles with a purse estimated in excess of $4,500. The race is expected to consist of a 10-horse field.
Officials with Harness Racing B.C. anticipate this will be the first of many other sponsored races in the future.
"This is an amazing opportunity to promote the sport, create partnerships and add a higher level of excitement," read a statement posted on the organization's Facebook page.
Live harness racing at the Surrey, B.C. oval is held on Fridays at 7 p.m. PST and Sundays at 12:45 p.m. PST.
