The trip was tough but the end result was sweet for Your Beautiful in Tuesday’s $10,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
The four-year-old daughter of Your Nemesis-Beautiful Girl came first-over going to the half and dug down deep to secure the win in a time of 1:56.4.
Ryan Holliday slipped into an early four-hole with Your Beautiful while Bunny Mach sprinted to the top from Post 7 and supplied the group with an opening quarter clocked in :27.3. Bunny Mach was still in charge at the half in :57.4, but Your Beautiful was sent into attack mode by Holliday. A neck separated Bunny Mach and Your Beautiful at the three-quarter pole in 1:26.3, but Your Beautiful used a :30.1 closing panel to prevail by three-quarters of a length over longshot Classy Lane Rose and Stayoutofmyaffair.
Trainer Stephen Gillard co-owns and bred the mare with Marilyn Gillard of Tavistock, ON. Together they’ve watched the mare assemble a 2-1-1 record in her first four starts of the season while banking just over $15,000. The 10-time winner has now stashed away close to $200,000 in lifetime earnings.
