Outpouring Of Support For Wiseman

Published: February 11, 2020 01:18 pm EST

They say cancer has no friends, but in the case of Steve Wiseman that is not
the case.

Longtime California horseman Steve Wiseman has just been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. To say that the Cal Expo horsemen were devastated to hear this news is an understatement. With the horse community being as tight as it is, the news spread across the country and into Canada in one day with horsepeople rallying to support Steve and his wife of 20 years, Kathie Plested.

Steve, Kathie and their daughter, Tyler, run the largest stable in California during the winter and at Running Aces in Minnesota during the summer. ‘Stevie,’ as he is known to many, has touched the hearts of horsepeople wherever he goes. He is one of the ‘good guys.’ Whether to help a family ship a groom home who just passed away; to a shipper away from home offering a Christmas dinner; or rallying to help support a trainer who lost everything to a barn fire; to a driver who was in a bad accident, Stevie has opened his heart to many.

One of the top drivers and respected horsemen in California and Minnesota for many years will now be racing one of the toughest races of his life. Although, with family and the hundreds of friends behind him with love and support, he can win this race.

The California horsepeople at Cal Expo this weekend will be sporting the Wiseman colours of blue, yellow and white to show support and stand behind their beloved horseman and friend.

Cal Expo are asking horsepeople and fans to stand with them to show support by
wearing Wisemen’s colours this weekend.

Megan Beauchamp has graciously offered to sell t-shirts via Facebook that feature the motto ‘Wiseman Strong, Whatever It Takes’ on them. All proceeds will go to the Wiseman family to help with medical costs.

A GoFundMe account has also been set up.

Wristbands Available To Support Wiseman

Beloved California and Minnesota reinsman Steve Wiseman, who has recorded over 3,000 career driving wins, was recently diagnosed with cancer.

In an effort to offer financial support for Wiseman and his family during this difficult time, ‘Harness Racing Symposium 101’ is selling ‘Whatever It Takes!’ wristbands in Steve’s driving colours.

Wristbands are $7 each or 5 for $30 (prices include shipping within the continental U.S., outside of the U.S. is extra). All proceeds after costs will go directly to Wiseman and his family.

If you would like to order wristbands, head to ‘Harness Racing Symposium 101’ on Facebook (the post to order wristbands is at the top of the page’s newsfeed). You may place your order in the comments in the post, or send a message privately through the page.

Harness Racing Symposium 101 is accepting Facebook Pay, PayPal, CashApp and Zelle currently for orders. Wristbands are in production and should arrive to Harness Racing Symposium 101 by February 21 (approximately), at which point Harness Racing Symposium 101 will ship to those that have placed orders.
