Desir Is Preferred In London

With Lady Latte riding a five-race win streak into Thursday's card of harness racing at Western Fair Raceway, could she step up and make that a six pack against some of the top distaff pacers on the grounds?

While the connections of Lady Latte were looking for their sixth straight in the $10,000 Preferred 2 Filles & Mares Pace, the connections of Desir had other plans. Brad Forward had the eight-year-old Goliath Bayama - Excitante on the front through every call after hitting the front in :29 and then stealing a 1:01.1 middle half before sprinting home in :29 to trip the timer in 1:59.1. Elm Grove Ilse (Bruce Richardson) was a fast-closing half-length back in second with Stonebridge Celest (Nick Steward) in third. Lady Latte was never a factor and finished sixth.

Rene Allard trains Desir, a homebred owned by Quebec's Guy Corbeil, who now boasts 31 wins from 120 lifetime starts and over $526,000 in earnings.

We've been racing against Lady Latte. If she hadn't drawn the 7 hole, I think she would have shown better in this move up. She was at a distinct disadvantage as everyone knows who races at Western Fair. Another day, another post and Lady Latte could show her stuff!
