There was no touching Mrs Suhwiggins and driver David Kelly, who posted a gate-to-wire triumph in Monday’s $12,000 Filly & Mare Open at Fraser Downs.
Kelly blasted off the gate from Post 3 with Mrs Suhwiggins, and together they led the field through fractions of :27.4, :57.3 and 1:26.1 before rocketing home in :28.2 to win by a length over Moosette in 1:54.3. Race favourite Rockin Mystery claimed the show dough in the four-horse affair. It was the first win of the season – and the 25th to date – for the Jim Marino trainee.
The six-year-old daughter of Custard The Dragon-Michelles Fury has racked up more than $320,000 in lifetime earnings for J J J Stables of Prince George, B.C.
