They called in an excavator and they also erected a tent to make him feel more comfortable. These are some of the extents to which the connections of a Standardbred gelding are going to in order to save their pacer from an attack.

The attack appears to be a bit of a rare one, but as an article explains, the members of the Lance Justice Stable down under are doing everything they can to help one of their horses, a gelding named Love In A Chevy, recover from a suspected snake bite in his mouth.

Love In A Chevy was found collapsed, and after closer examination, puncture marks were found in his mouth. Since being found collapsed, members have been at Love In A Chevy’s side around the clock.

Blankets and an air mattress have been brought in to make the gelding more comfortable. When the weather took a turn for the worse, Justice’s team erected a makeshift tent in order to shelter Love In A Chevy from a thunderstorm.

Fluid has been building up in the horse’s lungs, therefore he needs to be turned over every two hours.

The crew is pulling out all the stops.

“We made a sling and got an excavator here to lift him and put some weight on his leg to keep the circulation going.

“He’s still a pretty sick horse, but we won’t be giving up with doing everything we can for him.”
