It has been reported that tragedy recently struck in Illinois, as a barrel racing participant performing at Gordyville USA near Gifford has passed away due to injuries sustained at the equine showplace.
The News-Gazette has reported that 31-year-old Amy Hawker passed away Tuesday, December 3 after suffering injuries at a barrel racing event at the facility the weekend prior.
The article states that coroner’s office is currently unaware about how the injury occurred, but that Hawker did suffer a brain injury at the event.
