Schooner was a repeat winner in the top pacing class at Truro Raceway on Sunday, overcoming a post eight start and pushing his leading margin into the double digits this time out.
An eight length winner in last weekend's Winners Over Pace, Schooner romped to an 11 length victory in 1:58.4 in the $1,275 tenth race feature with meet leader Ryan Ellis driving for trainer Fred Saunders and owner Anthony Beaton of Inverness, N.S. The American Ideal gelding earned the 10th win of his five-year-old campaign. Bonnys Mac and Catch The Terror were the best of the rest.
Ellis also helped Jonah Moase to a training triple during the 11-race card. One race earlier, he won with Lets Make Ideal, who has now earned back-to-back victories at Truro to push his seasonal total to 10. Ellis also drove Nukamotion to his first win of the year in the second race over fellow Moase trainee Flag Of Honor and Darren Crowe. First-time Moase starter Whatrugonnado romped to a nine length victory in the second race with Crowe aboard. With his three wins, Moase took over the top spot on the local leaderboard, just edging by Emmons Ralph Mackay.
In other action, Dawn Ellis Abbott celebrated a maiden-breaking win with just her third starter as Scotian Lass and driver Hilliard Grave closed out the card with a 2:02.4 triumph.
