Dick Day, a Minnesota senator, announced today that he is leaving the legislature next month in order to lead a group called 'Racino Now,' a not-for-profit group which
has a mandate of bringing racino gaming to the state.
Day has been cited as saying that governor Tim Pawlenty stated that he will sign racino gaming bill if it passes the legislature.
"Will the governor sign it? Yes," an article by startribune.com has quoted Day as saying. "He said he would sign it. I've discussed that with him."
According to the report, Day said projections showed that racinos could generate $250 million of profit every two years. The state of Minnesota is currently staring down a projected deficit of $1.2 billion.
