Arthur ‘Zeke’ Webb, whose 50-year career as caretaker extraordinaire is coming to end in a week or so, was honoured Friday night (Dec. 6) by his Yonkers Raceway paddock cohorts.
‘Zeke,’ who was profiled in the past few days, found himself summarily feted in a crowded (and cold) Yonkers Raceway winner’s circle. Horsemen and racing officials stopped by to recognize ‘Zeke’ with a congratulatory sign and plaque.
“I’m very grateful to everyone who came out,” Webb said. “It means a lot to me.”

Bravo to all the people who took time and arranged to show their appreciation to a person (GROOM) for 50 years of caring for these athletic animals who give so much to their trainer and owners (what a nice act of appreciation), I tell you, some of these horse people sure do recognize the work GROOMS do. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL. Enjoy your retirement ZEKE.
