Outlaw Beacon’s debut performance for trainer/driver Bill Davis was nothing to write home about, but he’s been picture perfect since then.
Claimed for $12,500 on Nov. 11 and placed in Davis’ care, Outlaw Beacon was parked every step of the mile in his debut for new crew and as a result he finished a disappointing seventh.
The gelding bounced back in a big way one week later when he destroyed foes by 9-1/4 lengths in a dazzling clocking of 1:52.1, and he marched up to the Open class Sunday at Fraser Downs and produced another facile win.
Davis hustled the five-year-old son of Blue Burner-Billie J Blue Chip to the lead from Post 5 in the $10,500 affair and successfully whacked out panels of :26, :57.3 and 1:25.2 before scooting home in a :30-second clip to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:55.2. Gable Blue Chip was next best, with Rock Allstar grabbing the show dough.
Outlaw Stable of Falun, Alberta owns the pacer who now boasts a 3-2-4 record from 21 starts in 2014. The 13-time winner has banked over $20,000 this season and more than $160,000 in his career.
