According to reports out of New Jersey, a deal is on the table for state horsepeople to rent the Meadowlands Racetrack. An 'optimistic' Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association of New Jersey President Tom Luchento has been quoted as saying, "But I just don't know what is going to happen. There's a deal on the table, and we're just waiting to hear back from them."
Luchento's comment came via an article on northjersey.com which also cited him as saying that he has received "good feedback" from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie's staff during two recent meetings.
In an article by The Leader, Luchento stated that at this point things are "really up to the governor. I think, at the end of the day, everything will be fine. While nothing is guaranteed, let me say I am extremely optimistic that we can reach an agreement to restart next month, and then achieve our ultimate goal of permanently remaining in business at the Meadowlands, through a lease agreement.”
According to The Leader report, Luchento went on to say, “I think we developed a much better understanding of the governor’s concerns. At the same time, my impression is he is sincere in wanting to work with us, to try reaching a mutually-beneficial solution for both parties. It also helps that Democrats and Republicans in the Legislature don’t want to see the track close.”

My question is this. Name me one horsemen's group which successfully ran a meet? Sacramento Harness Horsemen failed at Cal-Expo. Cloverleaf failed at Rosecroft. What makes it seem like the SBOANJ can succeed where others can't?
