A little more information in regard to meetings between New Jersey horsepeople and the office of Governor Chris Christie has been released
.
According to a report on dailyrecord.com, Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association of New Jersey President Tom Luchento yesterday emerged from a two-hour meeting with Christie's chief counsel, Jeff Chiesa, and stated that they discussed several ways to keep the Meadowlands Racetrack open for live racing in 2011.
The article indicates that one of the possible deals which were discussed had to do with an arrangement for the track to be leased from the state so live racing could be conducted in 2011 as early as January.
The article cites Luchento as saying that the governor's office has 'bent over backward to work out a deal.'
