There is no disputing that Delmarvalous and Nitro Commando are the standouts of the $100,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) Colt and Gelding finals after impressive wins on Sunday
at Dover Downs.
Corey Callahan rolled out of outside post eight to get the early lead with Delmarvalous in: 26.3 and then continued to set a strong pace reaching the half in :54.3 and then opened up an even bigger advantage to the three-quarters in 1:23.2. Delmarvalous kicked home in :29.3 to stop the clock in 1:53. Lucky Power was next best and Mcmurray Hanover rounded out the top three.
The Badlands Hanover-Prymetyme Scootie colt, who is trained by George Teague, Jr., has now banked $189,348 for George Teague JR Inc, Elmer G Fannin, Howard M Dorfman and Badlands Racing LLC. It was the pacer’s fifth consecutive victory, and his eighth of the season in 11 trips postward.
In the DSBF trotting colt finale, Nitro Commando proved invincible in both his DSBF prelim wins and in the final. The brown colt and driver Rod Allen led the field through panels of :28.2, :59.1 and 1:29.2 en route to an easy 2:01.2 victory over Montabello Zeke and Super Delegate.
Owned and bred by Rod Allen Inc. of Ocala, FL, the son of CR Commando-CR Penny Lane now owns a 4-2-0 record in his first six attempts for trainer Carlo Poliseno. The $50,000 paycheque lifted his earnings to $110,000.
